The Position
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Within the Hydrology Section at the Nevada Division of Water Resources, the major duties and responsibilities of this position include: Enterprise database management and maintenance, including license provisioning for Division GIS software; evaluation and verification of interbasin transfer inventories pursuant to NRS 533.364; assist section personnel with analysis and evaluation of climate data and groundwater modeling data; conduct geospatial analyses to evaluate water budgets and estimate consumptive water use, and work with Hydrology Section staff to integrate new methods into existing workflows; perform complex database queries and geospatial analyses to determine additional data needs and areas requiring field visitation; performing technical and statutory review of water right applications for publication; answer inquiries regarding Nevada Water Law and Division policies and procedures from government agencies, private citizens, real estate companies, consultants, and utility companies and others; conduct ground water pumpage field inventories to monitor ground water usage and preparing comprehensive reports of these inventories; and prepare analytical reports or other written correspondence on water-related issues. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Employees in this class who are not registered professional engineers may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities.
