Electricians perform skilled electrical work to maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting for an Electrician 2. This position will be located at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center located in Carson City, NV. Electricians are required to perform skilled electrical work to maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment. This includes responding to repair orders; diagnose problems using proper tools and test equipment; getting quotes and submitting PO requests; make repairs; and troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain and repair circuit breakers and transformers. The position is required to have prior experience working with 120, 208, 270 and 440 power which is present throughout the institution. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level electrician experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
