The Position
Social Services Managers plan, organize, direct and manage the activities, staff and functions necessary to provide social services in an assigned region or district office and its satellites.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position manages the child welfare activities and operations in Rural Region 2, the Carson District Office. Incumbent supervises and evaluates performance of 3 subordinate supervisors, 13 social workers, 2 Family Support Workers and 4 Administrative Assistants. Incumbent implements child welfare programs and ensures quality services to abused and neglected children are delivered in these communities, including Child Protective Services, Substitute Care Services, Adoption Services, ICPC and are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, health or social science, public administration or related field and three years of supervisory experience in the implementation of social services programs; directing the operation of a program unit; coordinating program activities with officials and representatives of other agencies; interpretation and application of complex federal regulations; and writing program policies, procedures, or reports; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
The Examination

SOCIAL SERVICES MANAGER 3 (12.326) Training and Experience Exam
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question.
