The Position
Social Workers are licensed professionals who provide case management services to children, families, vulnerable adults with intellectual, developmental, physical disabilities, serious mental illness, and older adults (collectively referred to as "vulnerable adults") and other individuals within local communities and institutions.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This is a full-time underfill position at The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) in Fallon. The Foster Care Licensing position conducts thorough assessments of potential foster/adoptive parents for foster care licensure in the rural areas of Nevada utilizing a home study model. The position assures that applicants and licensee(s) are in compliance with policy, State of Nevada Statutes and Regulations. Conducts ongoing recruitment throughout the rural areas of Nevada for potential foster/adoptive families. The incumbent will provide foster/adoptive parents with pre-service and advanced training. Participates and engages in community functions. Conducts biennial home visits for re-licensing and completes relicensing home study. Delivers strength-based family centered case management services to families to promote safety for the children and preservation of the foster family placements. Maintains case records and documentation, agency special and monthly reports, forms and other pertinent paperwork. The position includes a variable work agreement that will be scheduled to work hours and days different than 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday such as swing shift and weekends, with overtime after 40 hours per week. DCFS together in partnership with families, communities and other governmental agencies, provides support and services to assist Nevada's children and families in reaching their full human potential. DCFS programs include child protective and welfare service delivery in rural Nevada and oversight of urban county-operated child protective and welfare services, children's mental/behavioral health treatment and residential services (outpatient and inpatient acute) in urban Nevada, and statewide juvenile justice services including state-operated youth training centers and youth parole. DCFS is an extremely complex organization with incredibly dedicated and professional staff committed to building strong communities through strengthening families.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Licensure or provisional licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Independent Social Worker or Associate in Social Work and one year of professional experience providing case management in a social work setting equivalent to a Social Worker I in Nevada State service.
Special Requirements
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required by the Division of Child and Family Services.
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
    Licensure or provisional licensure by the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Workers as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, Independent Social Worker, or Associate in Social Work is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of employment.
