The Position
Insurance Examiners perform professional work in verification and analysis of the financial condition/solvency
and market conduct examination of providers of insurance and related products in the State.
This position is with the Department of Business and Industry, Division of Insurance, Coprorate & Financial Affairs section (C&F) in the Carson City Office. C&F is responsible for the following as pertain to insurers: company licensing, financial statement analysis, holding company analysis, collateral management, financial examinations, receivership processes, strategic planning, new product/program implementation, and maintenance of corporate records. This position reports to the Assistant Chief Insurance Examiner in charge of the analysis unit, which is responsible for financial analysis of domestic insurers and their holding companies. The Insurance Examiner 2 is primarily responsible for in-depth and challenging review of the analysts' work, ensuring minimum analysis and review standards (as promulgated by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners) are met for maintaining the Division's accreditation status. This position may or may not be supervisory in nature, depending on the needs of the unit. The Insurance Examiner 2 may also be called upon to perform some of the more difficult analysis assignments, or to train analysts.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, business administration, finance or related field, and five years of professional accounting, auditing, or insurance industry experience, two years of which must have been in insurance regulation/compliance; OR two years of experience as an Insurance Examiner I in Nevada state service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Some positions require certification as a Certified Financial Examiner (CFE), Accredited Financial Examiner (AFE), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or other professional designations applicable to the position and will be designated by the hiring authority at the time of recruitment or list certification.
Additional Position Criteria
Accredited Financial Examiner or Certified Financial Examiner (CFE) designation as provided by the Society of Financial Examiners (SOFE) is required. Certification should be included in the application.
