The Position
Heating/Ventilation/Air Conditioning/Refrigeration (HVACR) Specialist's perform skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment.
This position is with the State Public Works Division, Buildings and Grounds Section, located in Las Vegas and is supervised by the HVACR Specialist 2. This position will service, maintain and repair HVAC equipment related to DDC control, automation, chillers, boilers, pumps, hydronics, valves, package systems, split systems, cooling towers, fan coils, VAV's and other related HVAC equipment, prepare and maintain maintenance reports and purchasing documents. Applicants must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed for stand-by emergency status. Overtime and flex work schedule may be required in emergency situations or to meet operational needs. Please note that employment is contingent upon the successful completion of an extensive background check.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Completion of a recognized HVACR apprenticeship program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
    Incumbents may be required to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays in addition to their normal work schedules.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    This position requires the incumbent to be EPA certified to recover refrigerant and recharge equipment.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.

1) Do you have completion of a recognized HVAC apprenticeship program followed by one year of experience? If so, please explain.
2) Are you able to provide EPA certification at time of interview?
