Grounds Supervisors perform and/or plan and schedule a variety of landscape and grounds maintenance activities such as planting, mowing, irrigating, pruning, fertilizing, and removing trash, leaves, snow and ice.
This position is with the State Public Works Division, Buildings and Grounds section, located in Las Vegas. The position will be supervised by the Facility Manager. Grounds Supervisors plan and schedule a variety of landscape and grounds maintenance activities, such as bid solicitations, scheduling of walk-through's, meeting with vendors and monitoring contracts. Incumbents function as supervisors over contracts and evaluate the performance of assigned staff (inmate crews); therefore applicants MUST be able to work with inmates.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of experience as a first line supervisor of a small work unit performing grounds maintenance, or maintaining, repairing or constructing irrigation systems; OR one year of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker IV in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
Must be able to be on standby/call back.
A valid Nevada driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Must be able to work nights/weekends/holidays.
Must be able to work flexible/rotating shifts.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Additional Position Criteria
Applicants must be able to work with inmates.
