Accountants are responsible for preparing financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the standards of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
This position is with the Department of Business & Industry, Housing Division in Carson City. Under the direction of the Chief Accountant, the Accountant 3 will be responsible for preparing financial statements for assigned bond programs according to GAAP, as well as all supporting schedules and reconciliations associated to those financials. The incumbent will assist in providing information to outside auditors; prepare arbitrage calculations for informational purposes based on IRS regulations; Cost of Issuance (COI) and program fee tracking and billing and reconciliation of federal grant programs as assigned; and will be periodically assigned special projects involving analysis, review, and calculation requiring a clear understanding of GAAP and Grant Accounting.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting and two years of experience performing professional accounting work; OR a Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or closely related field which included 18 credits in accounting; and three years of experience performing professional accounting work; OR one year as an Accountant II in Nevada State service and 18 college credits in accounting.
Special Notes
The required 18 college credits in accounting must include 6 credits of beginning accounting, 6 credits of intermediate accounting, and 6 credits of upper-division accounting courses.
