Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located in Carson City and is primarily focused on Dam Safety, although other water rights duties may be involved. The three main functions of this position include the routine inspection of existing dams across Nevada, the safe operation and maintenance of South Fork Dam in Elko, NV, and the permitting for new dams. The inspection of existing dams requires field work, as well as large amounts of data management and tracking skills. The permitting of new dams requires an in-depth knowledge of a broad range of civil engineering disciplines as well as complex construction techniques.
As a senior level engineer, this position is also responsible for reviewing and managing the work of junior staff members that may be assisting you perform the tasks briefly described above. **Please ensure your application contains your current PE license information.**

A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of employment.

Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
