The Position
Mortgage Lending Examiners conduct examinations in the Mortgage Lending Division of the Department of Business & Industry. Incumbents examine and analyze the general ledger, assets, liabilities, capital, and internal controls of institutions to ensure compliance with all federal and State laws and regulations and safety and soundness for the public good.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
Division of Mortgage Lending is located at 3300 W. Sahara Ave Ste 285, Las Vegas NV 89102. Mortgage Lending Division (MLD) is one of 14 divisions that make up the Department of Business and Industry. MLD oversees the non-depository mortgage industry for the entire state of Nevada. This includes the following types of companies and their agents: escrow, brokers, bankers, mortgage servicers, covered service providers and credit service organizations. The purpose of this supervisory position is to oversee the day to day functions of the examiner II's work load by managing tasks such as scheduling, training and establishing program protocols and continuing to manage the policy and procedures for the examination unit. The incumbent must maintain a working knowledge of the NRS/NAC under which the division regulates. The ability to aggregate and expand on skills and talents of the team members efficiently and effectively to ensure timely completions of examinations is essential. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, accounting, economics, finance, or related discipline and three years of increasingly responsible professional experience in conducting institutional examinations; OR graduation from high school and five years of increasingly responsible professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Mortgage Lending Examiner II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
The Examination
MORTGAGE LENDING EXAMINER 3
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. Absence of experience/training asked for in a question is not necessarily disqualifying. Failure to answer the questions will result in a score based solely on the application.

1) Describe your specific experience, including the number of years, directing a team in conducting any type of compliance examinations related to mortgage lending.
2) Describe your experience researching, analyzing and applying state and federal laws and regulations in the performance of a compliance examination related to mortgage lending.
3) Describe your specific experience relating to training, supervising and evaluating the performance of professional staff.
4) Do you have any of the following certifications: Certified Senior Mortgage Examiner, Certified Mortgage Examination Manager or Certified Mortgage Investigator? If yes, please list and provide the date(s) you received the certifications.
5) Describe your specific experience relating to the review and interpretation of company financial statements and auditing and reconciling trust accounts.
6) Describe your specific experience utilizing Microsoft Excel and Access.
