Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located in the Environmental Services Division, Carson City. Under general direction, incumbent performs journey-level duties associated with environmental and geological assessments, surveys, and mapping; remedial investigations; field and property inspections and sampling; and material management determinations. Duties include participating in and supporting activities related to naturally occurring asbestos (NOA) and erionite to ensure the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) is in compliance with regulations, and facilitating transportation projects and activities. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position requires applicants be a geologist (meeting the requirements of NRS 514.005), with field mapping experience. |

3) **This will not be used to determine eligibility.** Describe your experience implementing SAPs, QAPs, & HASPs; conducting environmental and geological field reconnaissance and mapping; experience with geographical information systems; oversight of contractor activities; asbestos experience and any corresponding State of Nevada licensing; and, securing regulatory permitting.
