The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
This position is within the department's Information Development and Processing Division, Information Systems Applications (ISA) unit which is located in Carson City and Las Vegas, Nevada. Preference will be given to candidates willing to be located in our Las Vegas office. The incumbent will become an integral part of the department's application development team. Incumbent will act as an advanced journey-level application programmer/analyst and must have the ability to code in an object-oriented programming language such as Java. The department is looking for a programmer/analyst with good testing skills who can maintain the department's automated functional testing scripts. The incumbent may also serve as backup for our Build Manager, assisting with code build and deployment activities. Experience with toolsets such as HPQC, UFT/QTP, Selenium, Bitbucket, Git, Jira and Jenkins will be an added advantage, but is not required. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE BEFORE THE POSTED CLOSE DATE BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analyst and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Statewide travel is required.
    Working weekends and/or holidays is required.
    Applicants must be willing to work standby and carry the standby cellular phone for evening and weekend system troubleshooting.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
