Park Maintenance Specialists perform a variety of skilled work in two or more of the mechanical and
construction trades in order to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, grounds and equipment. In addition,
function as the assistant to the supervisor in the area of facility management by participating in project
planning; review work completed by contractors for compliance with plans and specifications; develop
maintenance policies and procedures for the facility; provide information regarding facility needs and estimated
costs for inclusion in the facility budget. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The Nevada Division of State Parks is recruiting for a Park Maintenance Specialist with a primary duty
location at Washoe Lake State Park near Carson City, Nevada. The incumbent will work under the general direction of the Park Supervisor to perform maintenance duties at Washoe Lake, Mormon Station, and Dayton State Parks and may be asked to assist at other State Park locations. Incumbents may be required to work various hours and shifts including holidays and weekends.
Park Maintenance Specialists perform a variety of skilled work in the buildings and mechanical trades in
order to repair, construct and/or maintain buildings, grounds, and utilities. This position will also perform maintenance and minor repairs to park equipment and park vehicles. This position will participate in the area of facility management by planning projects, inspecting work completed by contractors and providing information regarding current and future facility needs. This position will also be required to operate a variety of heavy equipment. The position requires knowledge of structures, facilities, systems and national, state and local building and fire codes as well as standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the building and mechanical trades. The incumbent will prepare work orders and specifications for projects; read and interpret plans and electrical schematics; operate various testing equipment; and safely perform a variety of skilled work
including: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, welding and HVAC.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Four years of progressively responsible experience in two or more of the major building or mechanical trades and two years of journey level experience which included responsibility for performing a variety of repair and maintenance activities, laying out jobs, ordering material and the operation of heavy equipment; OR two years of journey level experience as a Maintenance Repair Specialist I in Nevada State service which included experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Specialist II which included experience as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
