The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

Unemployment Insurance Representatives perform a broad variety of activities related to the timely and accurate processing and payment of unemployment insurance benefit claims.
Unemployment Insurance Representative III's supervise a team of claims examiners in an unemployment insurance operation center OR adjudicate unemployment insurance claims issues concerning eligibility to receive benefits or tax rulings for base period employers.
Unemployment Insurance Representatives perform a broad variety of activities related to the timely and accurate processing and payment of unemployment insurance benefit claims. Typical duties include receiving and processing new and reopened unemployment claims over the telephone; identifying and resolving issues; fact-finding and writing decisions concerning entitlement to benefits and tax rulings for base period employers; investigating claims paid for quality control, fraud detection and overpayment recovery; processing and responding to questions from employers, the general public and other agencies seeking information regarding unemployment insurance benefits; and performing related duties as assigned.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience providing services to claimants by examining and processing claims for unemployment insurance benefits; OR one year of experience as an Unemployment Insurance Representative II in Nevada State service.
Special Notes
Up to one year of experience may be substituted by completion of 30 semester credits in social or behavioral science, business administration or related field for Unemployment Insurance Representative III.
The Examination
Exam Type: Training and Experience Evaluation
The exam will consist of a rating of training and experience weighted 100%. It is essential that applications include extensively detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Your score will be based on the information provided in your application and your responses to the questions asked below. If there are several parts to a question, answer each part separately. Along with each answer, identify the position(s) and/or training (as described in your application) where you gained the background asked for in the question. Absence of experience/training asked for in a question is not necessarily disqualifying. Failure to answer the questions will result in a score based solely on the application.
If there are five or fewer qualified applicants, the exam will consist of an application evaluation. (This statement does not apply for Until Recruitment Needs are Satisfied (URS) announcements).
Qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.

1) Please describe your experience in the following areas: 1) Analyzing information from different sources to make decisions on contested issues; 2) Writing decisions under the pressures of a deadline; 3) Applying laws and regulations; 4) Experience conducting fact finding interviews; 5) Navigating an automated system on a personal computer.
