JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Psychiatric Nurses provide professional nursing care to individuals with developmental delays, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities or social, emotional and/or behavioral disorders, in an institution or out-patient setting in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position will provide professional nursing care to severely mentally ill individuals, in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act. Psychiatric Nurses must maintain licensing through the Nevada State Board of Nursing and current CPR/First Aide certification at all times. Psychiatric Nurses will identify mental health care needs utilizing professional nursing assessment skills; make comprehensive clinical observations and evaluations of mental health needs including subtle abnormalities and changes in condition; and record and report indicative signs and symptoms of mental condition. This position is responsible to oversee the Residential Treatment Centers (RTC) and will work with providers to address issues regarding treatment and placement. The incumbent will review documentation for appropriateness of treatment; review for medical necessity; collaborate with sister agencies and/or county entities; complete incident reports; and conduct training regarding policy and update policies. ***Please ensure your application accurately reflects your updated nursing license information. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and two years of professional nursing experience, one of which included working in a facility or institution with individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Nurse I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Notes
Out of state applicants must have a temporary license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing at the time of appointment and must obtain permanent licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing as a condition of continuing employment.
