Under administrative direction, Chief Insurance Examiners plan, organize, direct and review new insurance products and programs to ensure that policies, rules, forms, business practices and operations comply with State laws and regulations, agency policies and procedures, and accepted industry standards. Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
Along with general supervision of the Corporate and Financial Affairs team, this position is responsible for the oversight of section staff to ensure that the Division is in compliance with the Accreditation Standards of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and the Division's mission; ensures financial examinations of carriers are processed according to statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures of the NAIC and the Division; provides oversight of NAIC related action; provides oversight of the admission process to ensure that all applications are reviewed, analyzed, and completed in an efficient and effective manner; reviews and ensures compliance of Corporate and Financial Affairs (C&F) staff with rules, regulations and statutes; review and examine policies of the NAIC and the Division; and ensures C&F staff complete all required processes in a timely and accurate manner. Position does not require certification as a Certified Financial Examiner (CFE), Associate Financial Examiner (AFE), or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) at time of appointment or as a condition of continuing employment but will be considered in the selection process.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, business administration, finance or related field, and four years of supervisory and/or management level experience which involved 1) the audit or examination of insurance companies and their operations; 2) the examination and/or analysis of insurance companies' products and programs that required the application of statutes, regulations and rules to determine the solvency and tax structure of insurance companies; or 3) determination of the appropriateness and soundness of insurance companies' products and programs; OR two years of experience as an Insurance Examiner II or Insurance Actuarial Analyst II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
