The Position
Positions in this series provide care, training, and treatment to children and adolescents with behavioral and emotional disturbances in a 24-hour/7-day a week treatment home setting.
The Nevada DIVISION OF CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (DCFS) is recruiting for a Treatment Home Provider that will be located at the OASIS in Las Vegas, NV. Treatment Home Providers in this position at the Oasis On Campus Treatment Homes, provide care, training, and treatment to children and adolescents, ages 6-18. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency in the area of children's emotional and behavioral mental health sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. Incumbents implement treatment plans by delivering psychosocial rehabilitation, implementing therapeutic interventions with clients, facilitating and co-facilitating psychosocial rehabilitation groups, provide parent education, role modeling implementation of the program models for transference into the home environment, and act as liaisons with schools and other providers. Treatment Home Providers take the role of shift lead to be responsible for the home and youth care when a supervisor is not on duty. Treatment Home Providers teach, train and supervise clients in self-care skills, social skills, empowerment, and academic skills in order to accomplish goals in client individualized treatment plans by specifically using the Psycho Educational Model (PEM), Aggression Replacement Training (ART), pre-teaching interactions, role play, and therapeutic relationship building on a consistent and ongoing basis.
Incumbents implement weekly home notes, daily point cards, and school notes to initiate change in client behavior through immediate feedback and tutoring clients to improve academic performance. Treatment Home Providers are expected, with training, to demonstrate competency in managing clients during times of crisis to include client monitoring, verbal de-escalation strategies, and ensure the safety of all clients, staff, and family members at these times using the Crisis Prevention and Response Training. Incumbents demonstrate the ability to identify and implement responses to treatment home safety and security issues according to established procedures; respond to emergencies and implement behavior modification techniques or other psycho-therapeutic interventions appropriate to the situation and the client; complete incident reports as required; organize and supervise recreational outings/activities such as birthday parties, movie and dinner outings and other community based recreational activities; ensure that clients behave and do not walk away; assist clients in making purchases such as buying tickets and refreshments; ensure clients take prescribed medications; provide a safe, clean, healthy home-like environment in compliance with Federal and State standards and teaching model procedures by maintaining attendance and census records; scheduling and performing daily household maintenance chores including cleaning and laundry; preparing and serving nutritional meals to clients following menus based on dietary and nutritional information including the four basic food groups; and procuring household supplies from warehouse and retail stores. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in education, child development, psychology, counseling, social work, or closely related field and one year of experience in the care, training, and/or treatment of children or adolescents with behavioral and emotional disturbances; OR three years of experience in the care, training, and/or treatment of children or adolescents with behavioral and emotional disturbances in a residential treatment home or psychiatric hospital; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    Work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
