JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Librarians are typically assigned to the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records (NSLAPR) Division and perform a broad range of professional level duties in support of a library that organizes and provides access to a wide selection of materials in a variety of formats. Incumbents perform administrative work in planning, coordinating and directing activities within one or more functional areas of the library including, but not limited to, acquisitions; cataloging; reference; circulation; collection maintenance; serials; document delivery/interlibrary loan; government documents; library services for the blind and physically disabled; and/or statewide library development.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The Librarian 1 works within the Department of Administration's Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records (NSLAPR), located in Carson City, NV. This recruitment will be used to underfill a Librarian 2 position. Automatic progression may occur upon the supervisor's approval and when minimum qualifications of the higher level have been met. Under the direction of the Assistant Administrator, the position leads the Library's effort to enhance its virtual spaces, working closely with library staff to develop and expand online library services and participates in the selection, implementation, and maintenance of new web-based library instruction tools, including developing and delivering training. Interpersonal contacts extend to library management and staff, state agency heads, state workers, public users and library staff from external institutions.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Master's degree in a program accredited by the American Library Association; OR current enrollment in an academic program leading to a Master's degree in a program accredited by the American Library Association and two years of paraprofessional library experience.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
This position requires up to 25% travel requirement.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
