The Position
Environmental Scientists perform program research, planning and development, permitting, compliance monitoring, inspections/enforcement, and technical support services in relation to air, water, waste, federal facilities, corrective action, mining, biology and other environmental programs.
Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation.
The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) has a vacancy for an Environmental Scientist 1, which will serve as an under fill for a Environmental Scientist 3. The position is located in The Bureau of Air Quality Planning (BAQP), Ambient Air Monitoring Branch, Carson City, Nevada. The position will perform program research, planning and development, and technical support services in relation to ambient air quality throughout Nevada. This includes operating various ambient air monitoring equipment, and evaluating new and existing sample sites for usefulness. The position also develop program documents such as the annual program plan and other technical reports in accordance with federal and state requirements; review existing program standards; research, compile and verify available data; analyze data and trends including the projected impact of federal, state and local regulations; provide information and technical assistance to the general public and regulated community; and prepare various reports as required for planning or in response to requests from the legislature, general public, regulated community, EPA, or DEP administration. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree in the physical or life sciences, engineering or closely related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
