JOB INFORMATION

Licensed Practical Nurses provide general or psychiatric practical nursing care in accordance with the authorized scope of practice specified in the Nurse Practice Act.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Nevada Department of Veterans Services, Nevada State Veterans Home in Boulder City, NV is recruiting for a Licensed Practical Nurse II position within the Infection Control/Wound Care program. This position provides wound and skin care to residents; administers medication and completes therapeutic procedures; participates in the MDS/Care Planning process; communicates with neighborhood staff, residents, families, visitors and the interdisciplinary team; floats as needed to cover medication nurse assignments; and assists in infection prevention by providing immunizations and PPD skin test. This is a 24 hour facility; therefore, applicants may be required to work shift work. Work experience in a skilled nursing facility with wound care experience is preferred. This position is a full-time day shift position. License information must be listed under the Professional License section of your applicant profile in order to receive consideration. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Nevada and two years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse, one year of which was providing nursing care to inmates in a correctional setting, individuals with mental illness and/or developmental disabilities, or patients in a hospital or skilled nursing facility (e.g., convalescent or nursing home).

CPR certification is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
