The Position
Business Enterprise Officer's provide training to Business Enterprise Program (BEP) Operators in fiscal, operating, marketing and other management practices and procedures to ensure adherence to program rules.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
Business Enterprises of Nevada (BEN) is a program for individuals who are blind or visually impaired. This program promotes the development of successful independent businessmen and women to operate various vending operations throughout the State of Nevada. This position reports to the Administrative Services Officer 2 and is part of a team that consists of 6 staff members that support the entire BEN Program. The incumbent will supervise two Business Enterprise Officer positions, both North and South; is responsible for the oversight of many southern locations, most notably the three largest operations at the Hoover Dam; provides backup support to the Administrative Services Officer 2 who oversees the entire BEN Program; determines eligibility for BEN operators; assists in the training of program participants; monitors the construction, repair, and maintenance of BEN locations; and reviews and analyzes operator fiscal/business reports. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration or a related field and two years of experience promoting, managing or assisting in the management of a business, one year of which must have been in a food related industry; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and six years of experience promoting, managing or assisting in the management of a business, one year of which must have been must have been in a food related industry; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR one year of experience as a Business Enterprise Officer I in Nevada State service.
Special Notes
    Equivalent education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
