The Position
Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is part of the NDOT Agency Risk Management Division. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and assembling assigned projects; analyze and provide engineering design; eDiscovery inventories; distribution of engineering plans and data associated to projects; assist and support of litigation/hearings; prepare draft exhibits and participate in settlement activities, and support all of NDOT engineering functional divisions with risk management. In addition, the incumbent will be required to perform a broad range of engineering work, and is responsible for designing, reviewing, interpreting and using judgment to make recommendations and determinations based on engineering data. Participate in the planning of a case, and assist with implementing risk workshops, analyzes and inspects construction diaries, relocation diaries, and acquisition diaries. Design engineering conceptual alternatives to be presented to functional divisions and/or property owners to mitigate agency risks. Provide technical reports for inclusion in required risk management work and ensure compliance with federal and State regulations; perform assessments and determine compliance with federal and State requirements and prepare those required reports and Perform technical and review of engineering plans, water rights, permits, and other applications like access, easements, other property rights and;. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Employees in this class who are not registered professional engineers may not represent themselves as such to other persons or entities.
Special Requirements
    Willingness to travel to remote locations throughout the State, often with overnight stays.
    A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
