JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Professional Engineer Managers plan, coordinate and oversee projects, programs and consultant contracts/agreements and perform licensed professional engineering functions.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position is located in Carson City within the Construction Division. The incumbent will manage the Constructability and Scheduling sections and will assist in generating support of Districts and their personnel in understanding and implementing policy and guidelines established with the Department's Construction Program. The constructability responsibilities include working with a variety of Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) divisions, other government agencies, and external stakeholders, during project development to ensure advertised documents for construction projects are biddable and buildable. Duties also include serving as an active member of the Bid Review Analysis Team to analyze contractor's bids, participation in project review before and during construction to identify potential issues, performing Post Construction Reviews and generating recommendations from lessons learned. Managing the Division's scheduling program includes calculation of contract working days by generating a critical path method schedules, training the construction crews on the scheduling software and analyzing contractor's schedules to determine compliance with contractual requirements. Assist in administering the Construction Division's Consultant Program to assist the Department's Construction Crews effectively administer their construction projects.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and two years of experience performing professional engineering work in a supervisory or responsible project charge capacity; OR one year of experience as a Supervisor, Professional Engineer in Nevada State service; OR licensure and two years of experience as a Staff II or Supervisor II, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR licensure and an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of continuing employment.
Special Requirements
Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of employment and as a condition of continuing employment.
