Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
The position is located in the Local Public Agency (LPA) Section of the Design Division in Carson City. Incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating the completion of transportation related projects with department staff, public agencies, consultants, and federal agencies. Duties include developing legal agreements or supplemental agreements with local public agencies; reviewing and approving local public agency and consultant construction plans, specifications, and estimates to ensure compliance with established standards and policies; ensuring appropriate use of federal funds; ensuring all environmental and right-of-way issues are addressed; providing guidance to local agencies to ensure compliance with federal requirements; ensuring that projects stay within scope; coordinating with the resident engineer to ensure the project is built in accordance with applicable laws and regulations; reviewing and approving local public agency invoices throughout the life of a project; and developing reports, design data, and other documentation as needed. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
