The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This is an Administrative Assistant 3 position with the Department of Wildlife in Reno, Nevada. Major duties include support for Commission meetings, including agendas, minutes, and travel arrangements as well as taking notes during meetings. This position will be the primary support for the processing of the regulations, ensuring coordination with the Commission meetings and compliance with all rules and regulations, including approval by the Legislative Commission. The Administrative Assistant will record and keep records of public records requests as well as follow up with agency personnel to ensure requests are completed in a timely manner and in compliance with the law. The Administrative Assistant will be the first line of contact with the Director's Office, both on the phone and in person, along with performing some accounting and budget monitoring duties for the Director's Office budget. There are up to nine Commission meetings per year which occur on Saturdays and at least two of the meetings are held in other parts of the State. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience providing clerical support to public meetings of the Nevada Legislature or other public bodies subject to Nevada Open Meeting Law (NRS 241) is required.
    Typing at 40 words per minute (WPM) accurately is required.
