Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
Multiple positions are located within the Roadway Division, Scoping Section in Carson City. Incumbents will be responsible for developing/evaluating engineering conceptual designs, recommending alternatives, and developing preliminary cost estimates; coordinating and conducting scoping team
meetings; coordinating information from various Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) divisions, consultants, local agencies, and/or federal agencies; developing preliminary designs in accordance with standards set by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), Federal Highway Association
(FHWA), Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), and (NDOT); developing project scoping reports, calculating and generating quantities; and preparing initial cost estimates. Incumbent will also be an active participant in the Department's Road Safety Assessment (RSA) Program and provide engineering insight to potential safety issues. **THIS RECRUITMENT MAY BE USED TO FILL MULTIPLE POSITIONS WITHIN THIS DIVISION FOR THE NEXT SIX MONTHS.** Women and under-represented groups are encouraged to apply. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or closely related engineering field and two years of professional engineering experience; OR Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern, and two years of professional engineering experience in civil engineering or closely related engineering field; OR two years of experience as a Staff I, Associate Engineer or Supervisor I, Associate Engineer in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
