Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Multiple positions are located within the Roadway Division-Scoping Section, Carson City. Incumbents will be responsible for developing/evaluating engineering conceptual designs and alternatives and developing preliminary cost estimates; coordinating and conducting scoping team meetings; coordinating information from various NDOT divisions, consultants, local agencies, and/or Federal agencies; developing preliminary designs in accordance with standards set by the AASHTO, FHWA, MUTCD, AND NDOT; developing project scoping reports, calculating and generating quantities; and preparing initial cost estimates. Incumbent will also be an active participant in the Department's Road Safety Assessment (RSA) Program, providing engineering insight to potential safety issues. NOTE: THIS RECRUITMENT MAY BE USED TO UNDERFILL A STAFF II, ASSOCIATE ENGINEER POSITION. ADVANCEMENT MAY OCCUR UPON MEETING THE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OF THE STAFF II, AE POSITION, SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE AND WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE APPOINTING AUTHORITY. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
