The Position
This class series encompasses positions that perform a broad range of professional and technical work involving but not limited to: cultural/natural resource assessment, programming, funding, evaluation, survey, inventory, preservation, research, education, planning, mitigation and recovery.
This position works within the Department of Tourism & Cultural Affairs' Nevada Arts Council (NAC) and is located in Carson City, NV. Cultural/Natural Resource Specialists support the various elements of the NAC Grant Program such as proficiency in arts administration, grants-making, or related fields. While working with the Program Coordinator, this position oversees more than 400 grant applications per year and assures that NAC constituents receive appropriate and timely technical assistance. Elements of the NAC grants management include determining applicant eligibility, application review for structure and content, coordinating and overseeing public grant pane reviews, preparation and management of grant award packets, and monitoring grantees for compliance. The program staff collects and analyzes grantee data for various reports and assesses the needs of the field through research of best practices and national trends for grant-makers in the arts. Experience using audio/video equipment is a plus as this position also assists with Grants Program presentations at various workshops, webinars, grant review panels, and board meetings. Ideal candidates will possess excellent organizational skills; the ability to use Excel, Mail Merge, Word, and PowerPoint. Please note that a 25% travel requirement is necessary in order to attend offsite presentations and trainings. As such, a valid driver's license is needed at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A State of Nevada/FBI criminal history check of the selected applicant is also required. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in studio art, dance, theater, photography, folklife, communications, architecture, English, creative writing or related field; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of paraprofessional experience relevant to the position which involved working with a non-profit arts or cultural organization, a public arts or cultural agency or comparable experience in a public or non-profit setting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
