The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.
This position works within the Department of Administration's Enterprise IT Services (EITS) Division, Agency IT Services - Web Development unit and is located in Carson City, NV. The IT Professional 2 will maintain and support the State of Nevada's Content Management system, all of the 130+ websites, over 500+ users, as well as the Department of Administration and the Department of Public Safety's INET and NVShare intranets sites. Additional responsibilities include full SDLC processes, maintenance, and application enhancements; analyzing, developing, implementing, maintaining and modifying In-House, Vendor Created and For Purchase (COTS) applications. position will also be directly involved in the State of Nevada ADA initiative of making all websites and documents in the State of Nevada websites ADA compliant. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required.
    A pre-employment State of Nevada FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
    Travel up to 25% of the time is required.
