The Position
Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.
The Division of Environmental Protection and the Department of Conservation & Natural Resources is currently recruiting for a IT professional 2 in Carson City, Nevada. This position will serve as a lead work for the Departments GIS systems. The position will directly support a user base of 50 GIS users within Division of Environmental Protection. The position will serve as a resource assisting staff within the Department of Conservation & Natural Resources with GIS related tasks; will develop and maintain the Geographic Information Systems (GIS); plan, design, modify, implement and administer multiple departmental spatial databases. The position will develop and enforce administration procedures and security standards; facilitate and monitor multi-user versioned editing and viewing workflows; design, implement and monitor spatial database security, performance and availability; create database objects, user and roles; create and maintain spatial database replication environment, schedule and monitor replica synchronizations; test and perform software updates. The position will install, configure and administer GIS Server application software; create, optimize, publish and monitor multiple web map, feature, geoprocessing, and search services on the intranet and internet; document web- service data-source dependencies. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
