The Position
Equipment Mechanics maintain, repair, and modify fleet equipment comprised of a variety of light, medium, and heavy automotive and maintenance equipment, landscape equipment, computerized testing equipment, and diesel-fueled electric power generators. 
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position will be stationed at the Pioche Conservation Camp in Pioche, NV or Three Lakes Valley Conservation Camp in Indian Springs, NV. Under general supervision from the Nevada Division of Forestry (NDF) Fleet Manager, this position provides mechanical services and repair to the Nevada Division of Forestry fire, forestry resource management, and conservation camp equipment for the Southern Region. Due to the emergency service mission of the Division, the incumbent may be asked to work extended shifts, holidays and/or weekends. The incumbent may be required to work in adverse weather conditions. Equipment Management software, as well as incident response experience is a plus.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Completion of a recognized automotive/equipment repair apprenticeship program; OR completion of the Equipment Mechanic-In-Training program in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    Incumbent is required to furnish their own mechanic's tools.
    A Class A or B com­mercial driver's license is required at time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
    A thorough medical examination, physical agility test, and background investigation is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    This position may require work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.

4) National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) qualifications in Logistics are desirable. Please describe all your current qualifications. Lack of experience will not result in disqualification.
5) Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and Emergency Vehicle (EVT) certifications are desirable. Please describe all your current certifications. Lack of experience will not result in disqualification.
