The Position
Management Analysts conduct a variety of studies, research and analysis of management and administrative areas such as budgeting and financial analysis; departmental operations; legislative analysis; management research; and statistical and informational analysis.
This position is for a Management Analyst 3, within the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Analytics in Carson City, Nevada. This position is responsible for the collection of healthcare data; analyzing hospital and other Medicaid provider financial and statistical data; preparing financial reports; assisting with the development of Medicaid rates and analyzing rate appeals for Medicaid providers; calculating and preparing analysis showing fiscal impact of rate proposals; reviewing and analyzing changes in federal and state law to determine the impact to the agency; drafting state plan amendments and other policies and procedures; and presenting at public hearings and provider workshops. This position maintains data quality and control, and completes all requests related to claims data from internal and external partners within specified timeframes in a fast paced working environment under minimal supervision. This position requires the demonstrated use of statistical methods and programs utilizing SAS or similar analytic software. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and three years of professional experience in the research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures; OR one year experience as a Management Analyst II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year-for-year basis.
Special Notes
    Without the required Bachelor's degree this position would require 7 years of experience of which 2 years were at the paraprofessional level and 5 years that were at the professional level performing research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures.
Special Requirements
    A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
    A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
    This position requires up to 25% travel.
Additional Position Criteria
    Statistical Analysis Software (SAS) or another similar analytic software.
