Licensed Professional Engineers provide professional services involving the application of engineering principles and data, or activities in connection with public or private utilities, structures, buildings, machines, equipment or projects impacting the public welfare or the safeguarding of life, health or property.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The position is located in the Local Public Agency (LPA) Section of the Design Division in Carson City. Incumbent is responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating the completion of transportation related projects with department staff, public agencies, consultants, and federal agencies. Duties include developing legal agreements or supplemental agreements with local public agencies; reviewing and approving local public agency and consultant construction plans, specifications, and estimates to ensure compliance with established standards and policies; ensuring appropriate use of federal funds; ensuring all environmental and right-of-way issues are addressed; providing guidance to local agencies to ensure compliance with federal requirements; ensuring that projects stay within scope; coordinating with the resident engineer to ensure the project is built in accordance with applicable laws and regulations; reviewing and approving local public agency invoices throughout the life of a project; and developing reports, design data, and other documentation as needed. Current Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) |

A person that is a licensed Professional Engineer in another state must become licensed as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months of appointment as a condition of employment.
|
|
The practice of engineering does not include land surveying or the work ordinarily performed by persons who operate or maintain machinery or equipment.
|
|
Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
|
|
The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process. |
