Under general supervision, Education and Information Officers research issues of concern to the agency and the
relevant target population; develop, coordinate and/or present educational programs; review, revise and monitor
courses of instruction to reflect current marketplace and applicable law; audit instructor presentations to ensure
quality instruction is provided in accordance with program requirements; facilitate communication among the
target population and State and federal agencies; develop media releases, newsletters and informational
brochures. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is in the Nevada Department of Education, Office of Early Learning and Development, Las Vegas. This position is grant funded through June 2019, with the possibility of continued funding. The incumbent will assist state staff and consultants in determining professional development needs of Preschool Development Grant sub-grantees and designing and organizing Professional Development systems around curriculum, instruction, assessment, leadership and family engagement. The incumbent will also collaborate to conceptualize and develop a Professional Development system framework that aligns learning and professional standards, licensing and registry requirements, and professional development systems to create a cohesive career pathway for the early childhood workforce. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an area of specialization relevant to the agency to which assigned and two years of professional experience which included responsibilities for researching, writing, instructing, and presenting informational and educational material; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Notes
This position may require some evening and weekend work.
The ability to travel at least 25% of the time is required.
Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
