Staff Associate Engineers perform professional engineering assignments not requiring licensure by the State Board of Professional Engineers & Land Surveyors.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This position is located in Carson City within the Roadway Design Division. The incumbent is responsible for supporting all aspects of contract development for projects assigned to the squad. Duties include calculating and compiling plan quantities; developing estimates using the iPD system; developing estimate summaries and structure lists; producing CADD drawings such as typical sections, traffic control, striping, special details, and profiles; calculating roadway geometrics and applying roadway design standards set by AASHTO, FHWA, MUTCD and NDOT policy.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Certification by the Nevada State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors as an Engineer Intern; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related engineering field; OR two years of journey level technical experience equivalent to an Engineering Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
The Examination
Application Evaluation Exam
The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
