JOB INFORMATION
Work Type: Permanent, full time vacancies as they may occur
in this geographical location.
Licensed Psychologists provide psychological testing, evaluation, psychotherapy, counseling, and consultation to clients or inmates in residential, inpatient and outpatient settings, at a mental health, intellectual disabilities, or correctional facility, or in other settings where psychological services are provided.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. This Licensed Psychologist I position is located within the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) of Health and Human Services at Nevada Early Intervention Services in Las Vegas.
Licensed Psychologists in early intervention services work with children who have developmental disabilities and related conditions such as Autism, seizures and Traumatic Brain Injury. Work responsibilities includes Autism diagnostics and comprehensive report writing which integrates the developmental history, observations and test results. Psychologists also provide consultations for children with behavioral issues and social emotional delays. Also work in settings utilizing Person Centered Planning and the principals of Positive Behavior Supports. They oversee the development of contextually appropriate behavioral support plans to mitigate challenging behavior and participate in team and clinical meetings to review the status of children served.
This position will participate in Specialty Clinics such as but not limited to Autism Clinic and Craniofacial Clinic. There is an expectation to provide community outreach to local pediatrician offices, universities and community behavioral agencies to support collaboration and continuity of care. In addition, this may also encompass sitting on a statewide commission or coalition to support stakeholder needs and state initiatives.
There is also the expectation to provide on a continuing basis parent training and counseling in a group setting for families and at least one professional knowledge training for staff a year. The selected candidate must be license eligible in the state of Nevada and have a temporary or permanent license to practice psychology in the State of Nevada at the time of appointment. ADSD provides a collegial atmosphere of innovative thinking and teamwork. The mission of the ADSD is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system for children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
One year of post-doctoral experience in providing psychological services in an inpatient, outpatient or residential setting.
Special Requirements
Licensed Psychologist I's and Licensed Psychologist II's must possess current licensure as a Psychologist issued by the State of Nevada Board of Psychological Examiners at the time of appointment and maintain licensure as a condition of continuing employment.
A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
