Public Information Officers manage the public relations and information program for an agency on a statewide basis; write media releases, newsletters, and informational brochures; produce audiovisual presentations and take photographs.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is responsible for statewide publications; initiates, develops, manages and monitors contracts for printing, photography and video; initiates, develops and monitors statewide inventory of publications; graphic development of pre-press on computer; develops and completes a myriad of printing products annually; and is responsible for development, oversight and monitoring the agency's budget for publications. The Public Information Office will develop marketing plans, strategies, goals and objectives; coordinates with program staff to ensure marketing objectives are understood, fully supported by agency staff, and contribute to accomplishing the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) strategic plan goals and objectives; collects and analyzes data on customer demographics, preferences, needs, and habits to identify potential influences affecting outdoor participation; and develops data driven digital marketing strategies and campaigns to increase NDOW awareness.

In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, English, public or community relations, communications or closely related field and three years of professional experience in administering or directing a public information program including writing media releases and newsletters, preparing and presenting speeches and multimedia presentations, independent media contact, development of public relations strategies and journalistic writing; OR one year of experience as a Public Information Officer I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Incumbent must possess and maintain a valid Nevada driver's license. |

Experience with design and layout software.

Experience developing a public relations/marketing campaign that involves digital media.
|
|
Experience initiating, developing, managing and monitoring contracts for printing, photography and videography.
|

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process. |
