Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.
This position works within the Department of Administration's State Public Works Division and is located in Carson City, NV. The IT Professional 2 serves as the sole, non-Enterprise IT Services (EITS) support for the Division which includes 100+ employees. Responsibilities include technical programming to aid in project management of the Capital Improvement program; procurement of computer and software equipment as needed; and administering the information technology section of the Agency's budget. This position also supervises the Audiovisual Technician to provide additional support and backup to programs and is responsible for all technical decisions involved in creating specialized programs for Agency use. This position will also facilitate the development and maintenance of a management information system for the entire Division.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
Additional Position Criteria
Experience with Microsoft Office support in a Windows environment required.
Experience developing applications using visual studio in .NET environment required.
Experience with Asset or Facility Management Systems required.
