The Position
Rehabilitation Technicians provide technical support services to professional rehabilitation counseling staff and independently acquire and process case documentation for disabled applicants during intake and eligibility processing.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
This Rehabilitation Technician 2 is on a team that works with a specialty caseload serving those who are deaf or hard of hearing. To adequately serve this specialty caseload of Deaf and Hard of Hearing consumers, a Rehab Technician who is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) is required. Rehabilitation Technicians are paraprofessional staff who, as directed by their Rehabilitation Counselors, conduct group or individual orientations based on the needs of the office; conduct person-centered intake interviews with prospective Vocational Rehabilitation clients; complete application inputting and prescreening; maintain regular contact with applicants throughout the VR case; complete case management duties; coordinate evaluation appointments with state vendors; writes case notes; perform labor market research on vocational goals; initiate and accept phone calls on behalf of Rehabilitation Counselors; and may perform receptionist duties. In addition, rehabilitation Technicians prepare, record, and process authorizations and invoices, referrals, logs, letters and other correspondence for client services; maintain client case files in electronic and hard copy format to include the filing and labeling of all electronic correspondence; compile routine reports for program/Counselor performance analysis; act as an office manager (where applicable); and provide quality customer service to internal and external customers. **You must be fluent in ASL to apply for this position.**

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of administrative support experience which included using a computer to perform word processing, spreadsheet and database functions; maintaining and monitoring budgets; conducting interviews to elicit required information; and exercising judgment to interpret rules, regulations, policies and procedures. One year of the above experience must have been in a rehabilitation setting; OR one year of experience as a Rehabilitation Technician I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Additional Position Criteria
    Applicants must be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL).
