Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.
This position works within the Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation's Information Development and Processing (IDP) Division, Technical Services Unit and is located in Carson City, NV. This position has a Network Administration focus. Incumbents plan, design, develop, and verify the physical deployment of an integrated geographically dispersed information processing network and administer networks comprised of multiple platforms, information resources, large grade applications, communications protocols, and physical network topologies.
The Department of Employment, Training & Rehabilitation consists of divisions that offer assistance in job training and placement, vocational rehabilitation, workplace discrimination and in collecting and analyzing workforce and economic data. This IT Professional 3 position will help support the network for the northern Nevada region, along with the telecommunications environment for the Department. This network administration position is the senior of two positions that supports the communications infrastructure for the region, both of which report to a supervisor (IT Professional 4)in Carson City, NV.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analyst and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
