The Position
Library Technicians/Assistants perform duties in support of the operation of libraries that house and provide access to a variety of materials in a variety of formats. Incumbents perform and/or supervise technical, paraprofessional and administrative duties within one or more functional areas of the library including acquisitions; cataloging; circulation; collection maintenance; document delivery/interlibrary loan; government documents; reference, serials and/or metadata, electronic resources, and digital services.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located in the State Library and Archives building in Carson City. The incumbent will coordinate the functions of the Cooperative Libraries Automated Network (CLAN) Headquarters in relation to the daily activities as well as emergency or planned projects including: maintain parameters for all functions of each member library in the Integrated Library System (ILS); maintain and enforce policy and procedures for the office as well as those developed and adopted by the CLAN governing board for all members; create, delete, and modify logins for the ILS (Integrated Library System) system and modify permissions as needed; prepare statistical reports for member libraries as requested by utilizing menu driven reports as well as simply reports; purchase e-book selections and maintaining accurate accounting of set monies for each site regarding purchases; and respond to requests from member libraries, either by performing the needed task, obtaining information or preparing options to be decided by the CLAN governing board. The position is responsible for fiscal functions including the preparation of a Tentative, Preliminary, and Final budget for approval by the CLAN governing board in accordance with procedures and CLAN By-laws; responsible for working closely with ASD to coordinate the CLAN governing board approved budget with the state budget process; and responsible for preparation of invoices for payments, preparation of PO's for purchases in accordance with state purchasing rules. The position will also prepare digital files for uploading into the CLAN Digital Collections including renaming files, metadata preparation, and uploading and reviewing data after approvals and indexing are completed. This position has a travel requirement of up to 25% for off-site meetings.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of increasingly responsible experience working in a library; OR one year of experience as a Library Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
