JOB INFORMATION

Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
The Department of Public Safety is recruiting for two open positions at Parole and Probation Headquarters in Carson City. The first position provides administrative, clerical and office support as directed by a Specialist II or other supervisors. Assignments are limited in variety, recurring, and generally follow established routines. The incumbent will use software products such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and state proprietary programs such as OTIS. Incumbents may perform functions such as moving and delivering office computers and equipment, acting as Division liaison to EITS for computer technical support, maintaining databases, monitoring and supervising staff in charge of the DONS terminal, and supervising and monitoring general services staff, including providing evaluations, guidance and mentoring and training. The second position is assigned as an assistant to the Personnel Commander and is responsible for maintaining and managing personnel databases, preparing reports and spreadsheets for management, tracking and preparing OSHA logs, scheduling and preparing meetings, and other administrative duties as required.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
