Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Nevada Department of Veterans Services, Southern Nevada Veterans Home is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant 2 geographically located in Boulder City, Nevada. The Nevada State Veterans Home is a 180 bed community for veterans, spouses and Gold Star parents. Our home is located 12 miles from Henderson and offers skilled nursing services for veterans (both men and women) who have served in one or more conflicts, including World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, or even during peace time. Under the supervision of the Executive Assistant to the Administrator, this position is responsible for providing administrative and operational support to management; reviewing and processing Clinical Team payroll timesheets; preparing daily bank deposits or transporting deposits to banks; creating and maintaining admissions packets and program materials; preparing meeting agendas and taking minutes; and providing clerical support to the Infection Control Nurse Manager with data entry, typing and filing. The position will also serve as regular back-up to the Veterans Home Front Desk Receptionist, greeting and assisting visitors, ensuring facility safety sign-in requirements, providing general information; arranging and providing facility tours; receiving and logging checks, managing trust fund cash drawer, processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail; and other related duties. This assignment requires excellent people and communication skills. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
