Accounting Assistants perform clerical accounting work in the maintenance of accounts and accounting records for State agencies.

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is recruiting to fill a vacancy at the Director's Office in Carson City. This position reports directly to the Management Analyst 1. The Accounting Assistant 3 is one of three positions that shares in accounts payable, purchasing, grant tracking, receivables, declining balances, inventories, stale claims, and special projects. These duties encompass eight different budget accounts as well as support for all DPS divisions. This position requires significant organization skills, accuracy, and attention to detail. The position works Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm.
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible clerical accounting experience which included duties such as responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and/or other accounting data; setting up computer spreadsheets to record, track, organize and report data; researching and interpreting financial to data prepare reports and respond to budget and accounts related inquiries; and reconciling accounts; OR one year of experience as an Accounting Assistant II in Nevada State service which included clerical accounting duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
