The Position
Park Ranger Technicians perform grounds and facility maintenance, custodial duties, fee collection, report writing, visitor services, and assist in the operation and maintenance of a State park.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE PRIOR TO THE POSTED CLOSING DATE DEPENDING ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
The Park Ranger Tech I positions are located at Wildhorse State Recreation Area near Elko, Nevada and are seasonal mostly full time. Hours and length of employment will vary by position, but will not exceed 9 months. Selected applicants will be contacted for interviews as vacancies occur. Under general supervision, seasonal Park Ranger Technician I positions oversee routine custodial and general facility and grounds maintenance, assist visitors and provide information related to park facilities, policies, rules and fees, and assist with educational programs and displays. Collect park user fees and make change as necessary; issue entrance permits; prepare routine reports and maintain records as assigned. Positions may assign special projects as including light construction, fencing, and sign replacement. Perform routine preventive maintenance on park vehicles and equipment; check fluid levels; clean and wax vehicles as needed; and report malfunctions and problems.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of experience in a park, zoo, museum, interpretive visitor center or closely related setting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
