The Position
Program Officers administer a program or major component of a program by planning, coordinating and managing services and activities in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements and established program performance standards and objectives.
Incumbents recommend and implement changes to work plans, program performance standards and objectives for providing services, and eligibility requirements as permitted by program regulations and guidelines; and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or a staff consisting of several students, volunteers and/or contract staff.
This position is located within the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health's Bureau of Child, Family, and Community Wellness, Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program. The position is responsible for providing technical assistance and consultation to sub-granted agencies and clinics that provide direct WIC services in the areas of program administration, policy interpretation, nutrition education, and breastfeeding support. The position serves as the primary point of contact for the WIC Management Information System (MIS) and coordinates MIS/EBT Help Desk services and activities. The incumbent monitors WIC MIS operation and support requests and provides technical assistance to clinic staff, vendors and State Office personnel. The position compiles data, prepares reports, identifies problems or areas of concern, develops recommended changes to effectively manage program activities, and writes and/or revises WIC procedures to ensure better understanding and compliance with WIC policies. The position will monitor, test, update and revise automated technical systems to better manage and reflect current WIC practices and to streamline WIC processes. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or public administration, or other discipline related to the program assignment; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of para-professional program support experience equivalent to an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service which required the application of State and/or federal laws, policy and procedures; reviewing documents prepared by others for program compliance determinations; or preparing reports which summarize financial and statistical information; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Additional Position Criteria
    Experience with the NV WISH MIS system.
