The Position
Equipment Mechanics maintain, repair, and modify fleet equipment comprised of a variety of light, medium, and heavy automotive and maintenance equipment, landscape equipment, computerized testing equipment, and diesel-fueled electric power generators. 
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
This position is located at the Eastern Region Headquarters within Cathedral Gorge State Park near Panaca, Nevada. Incumbents may be required to work various hours and shifts, including some weekends and some holidays. Under the general supervision of the Facility Manager, the position performs complex diagnosis, repair, rebuilding and modification of a variety of light, medium, and heavy automotive and maintenance equipment for 10 State Parks within the Eastern Region of the Division of Nevada State Parks to include, Lincoln, White Pine and Elko Counties. The position researches and orders replacement parts, maintains inventory, repair schedule/history, cost per mile and budget records. Incumbents must have the ability to repair hydraulic systems and must be able to fabricate and install parts components and special use items. The incumbent functions as a lead worker for lower skilled maintenance and trades workers assisting with repairs; transports and operates heavy equipment; and assists maintenance staff as necessary in other major park maintenance projects. A Class A com­mercial driver's license is required within one year of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Completion of a recognized automotive/equipment repair apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level experience; OR one year of experience as Equipment Mechanic II in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
    A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
