The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
The Division of Records, Communication, and Compliance is recruiting to fill a administrative support position at the Carson City office. This Administrative Assistant IV provides a broad variety of secretarial, clerical, and administrative support duties to the Program Managers of the Nevada Offense Code Unit (NOC) and the Criminal Records Unit (CRU). The selected candidate must be a team player and provide professional support requiring initiative, experience, and skills to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and provide proactive solutions as needed. The incumbent is responsible for validation, tracking, and preparation of requests for Nevada Offense Codes; reviewing and tracking legislative bills to determine impact to the program and make appropriate modifications to the NOC system; quality assessment and maintenance of existing offense codes; researching and reviewing local, state, and/or federal laws; logging and reviewing DNA expungement requests;and performing court ordered criminal history record seals and second party validations for seals. The incumbent will work Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm but may be required to work weekends, evenings, and/or holidays during the legislative session.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
    Graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: providing administrative/program support to professional staff and management; performing secretarial duties in support of a manager; coordinating communications between the manager, staff and program clientele; supervision of subordinate staff; researching information from internal and external sources; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements
    Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
    Travel up to 25%.
    Requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment.
