Conservation Staff Specialists assist in developing, formulating, and coordinating programs, policies and procedures related to areas such as resource management, safety and training, fire management and policy management pertinent to the assigned area of natural resource management, preservation, conservation and protection.
The Division of Forestry's mission is to provide professional natural resource and wildland fire management services to enhance, conserve and protect forest, rangeland and watershed values, endangered plants and other native flora. The Conservation Camp Program provides training programs to inmates, wildland fire suppression crews, and a skilled labor force for conservation projects, community assistance and emergency situations. Under the supervision of the Conservation Camp Program Manager, this position monitors and compiles statewide camp program deliverables through the review and creation of reports, records, and statistical data; visits camps regularly and attends camp program meetings to verify compliance with audit recommendations and applicable policies/procedures; assists the camp program manager in documenting recommend changes in procedures and program operations; assists in compiling and analyzing data for the biennial budget; compiles and analyzes statewide statistics on camp natural resource work and wildland fire response for each camp and statewide; and assists in the preparation, review and approval of contracts and agreements related to the conservation camp program.
This position assists fiscal staff in the preparation of state biennial budget requests including compiling, preparing and entering agency budgetary requests into Nevada Executive Budget System (NEBS); provides prompt and accurate responses to questions relating to Camp Programs; and evaluates purchase requests for an approved budget and compliance with applicable authorities and statutes. This position also provides technical support and training to personnel on reporting formats, budget management, meeting established deadlines and electronic data management. *** THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE AT ANY TIME BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, ecology, natural resource management, forestry, parks management, fire management or related field and three years of journey level professional experience in a relevant resource management field that included assisting in developing, formulating, and coordinating programs, policies and procedures; coordinating special grant programs and/or contracts; and/or coordinating training programs; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. |
