Professional Engineer Administrators are responsible for management of an assigned district, function or division in the Department of Transportation.
Incumbents function as managers who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate supervisors; develop policies and procedures; and allocate staff and resources to accomplish goals and objectives.
This position is located in Carson City within the Design Division. Incumbent acts as Design Chief and is responsible for administering staff and operations of the Specifications, Landscape Architecture, and the Local Public Agency Sections. Duties include developing and managing the division's annual budget; performing professional engineering work and exercising executive control and final action on major engineering projects within department policies; developing, communicating, and administering division policies, procedures and standards; planning and organizing work units throughout the division/district; determining work methods used to produce the desired results; making interpretations of laws, regulations, and policies; and overseeing program management.

Current licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) and five years progressively responsible professional engineering experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity; OR one year of experience as an Administrator I, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR two years of experience as a Manager I, P.E., or Manager II, P.E. in Nevada State service; OR licensure and an equivalent combination of education and experience. |

Any person registered as a Professional Engineer in another state must become registered as a Professional Engineer in Nevada within six months following the date of appointment and as a continuing condition of employment.

Registration as a Professional Engineer is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
